A Plea: To All,
A close family friend was diagnosed Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), after having no symptoms of any illness. She underwent aggressive chemotherapy treatment, only to find out her only hope for help is through a bone marrow transplant. The procedure to find a match is an expensive one, and a charity has been set up to receive tax deductible donations to defray the high costs of testing others for the match.

If you can, please donate. Even a few dollars, literally a few, can go a long way if we can get enough people to assist.

Guess who’s back, back, back … me: With that, I shall resume blogging, indefinite in course but not so in resolve. Reference to the heading, I’ll be semi-reviewing 8 Mile at some point in time. For now, let the game’s commence.

Enron-style errors at Drudge?: Matt Drudge recently celebrated hitting his 1 billionth view. For getting near here, I congratulate him. But I take possible issue with his math.

These are his numbers as of noon on the 13th of November:

The 5mm over the past 24 hours put him over 1 billion. The prior day’s total for the year was 995mm, hence his surpassing of 1 billion.

His calculations present a simple calculation issue: A year ago today, he received a certain number of hits. These were included in his 995m. His hit total should have increased only by the marginal difference between 11/13/02 and 11/13/01 … and not by the entirety of his daily hits.

He shouldn’t have reached 1 billion today unless he had 5mm more hits on 11/13/02 than on 11/13/01. And if this is an error, how has the rest of the counting leading up to his billion been calculated?

Now, I wouldn't be so bold and insensitive as to suggest the execution for treason of the Supreme Court of the not-so-great State of New Jersey.
